Measure the width
Measure across the widest part of your natural nail bed, from sidewall to sidewall — just below the cuticle, where the nail is broadest.

Read in millimetres
Read the width in millimetres where the ruler meets each side of your nail, rounding to the nearest half millimetre if you can.

Lay a strip of paper or tape across the nail, mark where it meets each sidewall, then measure the marked strip against any ruler.

Measure each nail individually and note your measurements — hands are rarely identical, so it is worth capturing all ten before entering them below.
